Basic tart dough

Basic tart dough

100g unsalted butter
100g icing sugar
1 egg
1/8 tsp vanilla essence
250g plain flour

Cream butter and icing sugar until creamy, then add in egg and essence. Continue to cream until well combined.

Sift in flour to mix into a firm dough. Wrap pastry in a plastic bag and chill for 30 minutes.
